Okay so you just finished hanging your gallery wall. Straight frames, even spacing, all that tedious measuring. Felt good. Then evening came, you flicked on the photo wall lights, and suddenly your favorite print looked like it was hiding in a cave. Don’t panic.

This is the most common gallery wall lighting mistake I see, and it has nothing to do with your bulbs. It’s placement. My first attempt ended with shadows so bad that my neighbor asked if I was “going for a moody look.” I was not. I was going for a functioning light. Anyway, I learned this the slow way, after taking the entire wall down twice.
